Born in Fukui, he studied architecture at the Fukui National University, within walking distance.
He moved to the U.S. in 1978 to pursue an Architecture master’s degree at the SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and joined Arthur Erickson Architects in 1982. After working as a junior designer for 4 years there, he returned to Japan in 1986 after a short stay at James Stafford / Architecture & Planning.
In Tokyo, he joined Semba Corporation, Tokyo Design Office, a retail design and construction company, and was in charge of overseas projects. He then moved to the store development department of Seibu Department Store, where he experienced the establishment of Hong Kong Seibu from the operations side. He then joined Arterior, a retail planning and design firm, where he was in charge of a Korean department store and an Indonesian SC.
In 1996, he established his current firm, K-Net Design. He continues to provide design and consulting services for domestic and international commercial facilities, closely collaborating with clients and being concerned for store-targeted customers to meet their needs, design standards, and objectives.
